Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology.
The auger box housing is also starting to rust. This is not my first smoker and I am very disappointed that this product is not looking like it will last like my last one. I store this unit in my garage so it is not weathered as I had done with my previous that I had for years. For the money I spent on this unit I did not expect to see this type of degeneration in less than a year of use.
This unit is used for smoking and slow cooking the temp isnt even over 350 degrees and yet Im looking at a product that looks like it isnt going to make 3 years.
I have pictures of what I have mentioned along with proof of purchase and need you to know how disappointed I am with what I am seeing. I have tried emailing the company with no response and have tried several times to call them for the past month.
Preferred solution: I would like them to replace or repair the defective components.

As of today, I still have not heard anything from Pit Boss about a replacement unit or a full refund. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!
It got so hot that the insulation inside melted and warped the outside metal of the grill. I called Pit Boss and asked them to warranty the defective grill under their five-year warranty, but they claimed they don't replace the grill, just defective parts. I then called Lowes to warranty the product under the warranty I purchased from them, but they stated their warranty doesn't cover that either. I paid 500.00 dollars for this product and I can't get anything done.
Don't waste your money on this product, or any Pit Boss grill. Go ahead and buy a Traeger.

The Pitboss Laredo 1000 control board burnt up. When I plugged it into a GFCI outlet outside, it started smoking at the board. I unhooked the power and found that it completely burnt the control board.

I am currently waiting on a 3rd replacement part for my pro series vertical smoker. I have only owned this smoker 1 whole year.
I had to replace the igniter after 1 use, then 6 cooks later the fan failed. That was replaced and immediately failed again. Now I am waiting on a replacement controller. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with any of my outdoor cooking equipment.
Danson pushed out faulty equipment on their most expensive vertical smoker. Danson you should be ashamed of your quality control.
If this replacement controller for my smoker doesnt resolve the issue with my unit I will be contacting you for a refund!

User's recommendation: Do your homework before making your purchase. Search the internet for known issues about the unit you are interested in buying before purchasing. If I would have done that I would have avoided buying the pro series vertical smoker. It would have saved me from ruining my holiday meal plans. Twice now!
Sick of the problems and poor customer service
My Pit Boss smoker quit working and needs parts. I called Pit Boss and ordered the parts under warranty over a month ago and still do not have them.
In summary: I had my meat seasoned and marinated and my smoker wouldnt fire up due to the igniter being faulty.
Now, I threw the meat away, we ordered pizza and my smoker is still on the fritz with no parts. Beyond frustrating.

I would like to know how can I fix this problem with my pit boss. I can hear the fan motor making a noise.
I disconnect the igniter and plugged it back up and no heat to the burner.
The front panel started to blink so I unplugged it. Here is some pictures from the front panel and the wire to the igniter.

We used our electric smoker after purchasing pit boss pellets. After shutting the smoker down it caught fire.
This is the third time it caught fire.
We called and they stated that it looked as if we didnt use pit boss pellets. We purchased pit boss pellets this evening and here we are with another fire in our electric smoker.

I would give a negative rating if I could. My mom bought this item exactly one year ago, after saving up and finally 'upgrading' from our Members Mark grill that we had for over 10 years.
We used it throughout the summer and started seeing rust building up. We took extra steps when cleaning after every use and we always covered it with the cover that came with the product. We had it covered and stored throughout the winter and when we uncovered it this weekend (exactly one year from purchase), the entire grill was rusted. When speaking with customer service, they said it's not covered by the 3-year warranty that we purchased and explained the best way to store it (which is how we stored it).
They then proceeded to say that all grills rust and are not meant to be outside, which absolutely blew my mind. We had a Members Mark grill for 10 years and only had to replace the heat tents once.
I would never recommend this product or any Pit Boss product to anyone. The person I spoke to with customer service was nice and I realize they were just doing their job, but unfortunately, the lack of care from the company itself doesn't allow them to make things right in any way.

Brought a vertical series 3 electric smoker on 4-2-2024 got it home started putting it together and about 2/3 of the way done I realized I was missing a part. I called them and got right to a person and ordered the part I needed and was told it would be fine to use without the part.
The next day a tried doing the burn off and the machine never got above 235 since the burn off says to be at 300 to 350 I figured I should call and find out what to do next. Once again got right to someone and they determined I needed a new control board and they would send it out. Now I'm back to using my old smoker for the 4th of July. I week after I got the replacement control board but not the missing part so I called and was told that I should get that part soon .
Waited a second week and still no part so I called again and was told the something that it was their busy time and it was taking a long time to get parts out be my part was to be sent out soon. Now I'm at day 17 still no part called again told the something ask to talk to a supervisor who told me the samething and that I probably didn't need the new control board because electric smokers don't get up to 300 even if was in the sun for 2 hrs and just do the burn off for a hour and a half. If that is the case why do they advertise the max temp of 350 and why does it not say if you can't get it up to take just do the burn off longer.
I can't believe that a brand-new machine is missing parts and isn't working like advertised and it's not a top priority. Terrible company Terrible products and now I'm returning it to the store I bought from and hoping they don't give a problem.

They advertise online as customer service 7 days a week, but when you call its only mon-sat. My issue occurred on a sunday, so im stuck with food thats ready to grill but a grill that wont grill.
Should have bought a Traeger, this is ridiculous. 1k for a grill that rarely connects properly.
Also i bought the upgrade to a wifi/bluetooth connection, to control it from my phone. The display screen never works and i have no idea other than what phone occasionally provides on temperature.

Six weeks, and I still can't use my smoker.
The heat deflector came broken. They didn't honor the warranty and made me buy the broken part.
And guess what, it came broken...again.
Worst service and quality ever.
There is no way to talk to a human being.
Don't buy from #PitBossGrills ever. If they don't care about Customer Care, they don't care about their customers.
If something fails you are alone.

I ordered a grill. I did not receive a confirmation of order, but got an email saying item was still in cart.
I reordered and contacted Pit Boss about double order.
I talked to an agent who said order could not br cancelled but had not been shipped. They did ship the order with an invalid tracking number and order number.

Had video conference with customer service on my Pit Boss Pro Series Smoker that is less than 90 days old and has only been used 4 times. Showed them the fire that happened in the hopper box. They agreed the machine malfunctioned and it was a problem but told me they might replace a few parts and I could repaint it if I wanted to myself but policy is no unit get replaced for any reason.
